APPLYING FOR A PERMIT

EU citizens and students from Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein do not have to apply for a residence permit, as they are entitled to the right of free movement within Greece.
International students from all other countries than those stated above, who have acquired a student visa (H 1.1. "Studies") by the Greek Consular Authorities of their country of origin, are required to apply for a residence permit for studies within 90 days of their arrival in Greece. Visit the online platform of the General Secretariat of Migration Policy in order to:

  • Apply for an initial residence permit
  • Apply for the renewal of your existing permit
  • Retrieve your "Blue certificate"
  • Send additional documents to the migration office

Read the available instructions, select the permit type and category that applies to you, and then submit your application after completing the required information.

  • Check the progress of your application

Visit the portal of the Secretariat of the Migration Policy in order to:

  • Create an account on the relevant portal
  • Make an appointment to attend a personal interview at the Immigration Office and present the documents listed below
  • Make an appointment for the delivery of your residence permit
